OPENrestaurant at the Yerba Buena Center for the Arts

On TUESDAY January 06, 2009 at 7 pm, join us in association with Slow Food Nation for an evening of discussions around the question: “How do we make the urban landscape more productive?”

We will be hosting urban farmers, foragers, homesteaders, and members of Slow Food Nation who will be on hand to discuss and share their expertise and help us all start thinking towards spring and planning our spring gardens.

All this around a bowl of hardy greens, beans and (or without) ham stew, rillettes and a glass of wine.

Open and free to everyone. Meal and a glass of wine is $20. Wine and beer available.

WHAT IS OPEN?

OPENrestaurant is the project of a collective of restaurant professionals who moved their environment to an art space as a way to experiment with the language of their daily activities. This displacement turns the restaurant, its codes and architecture, into a medium for artistic expression which is made available to cooks, farmers, artists, educators and activists as a way to explore issues around food and society. Held for one night every few month it creates an informal forum by focusing on a specific issue. OPENrestaurant was started by Stacie Pierce, Jerome Waag and Sam White, all part of the Chez Panisse restaurant staff and now includes Amanda Eicher, Sasha Wizansky, Chris Sollars, Valerie Imus, Chris Kronner, Howie Correa, Kelly Ishikawa and many others as regular collaborators.
